Here’s a good question: WHY are black zip ties supposedly better than white or natural colored zip ties? We know the latter are less UV resistant and less tolerant to strain and vibration, but why? Granted, it is not very pertinent to being a competent installer, but an interesting question nonetheless.
Perhaps a good experiment for class would be to put a series of different colored zip ties out in the sun for the semester and see what happens.
Maybe we should contact a manufacturer and ask them for the low down.
Anyone with a background as a chemist / materials engineer or otherwise care to pipe in on this one?
Stay tuned.
